5/9/14 – 6/23/15          Welcome to Baltimore

Coming up the Patapsco River into Baltimore you pass a major part of American history ‘Fort McHenry’. It is the birthplace of the National Anthem. It is open to the public and offers guided tours. It is accessible by water taxi from many of the destinations described below. There are several water taxis and each serves a specific area, so you would need to transfer boats to get to most places.
 

We elected to dock in Canton due to the number of family members living in the area. There are numerous other destinations available if you visit Baltimore. Below is a picture of the Baltimore Harbor with the various areas named. Descriptions and additional pictures will follow.

The Inner Harbor is a wonderful combination of shops and entertainment and hotels all within walking distance. You will find an Aquarium, a Science Center, a casino and professional baseball and football stadiums. A little farther out is the new Inner Harbor East which is still under construction and looks to become another lovely attraction.

There are still other areas to visit that are adjacent to the downtown area. These include Little Italy, Fells Point and Federal Hill, just to name some of the really close ones.       

While in Baltimore we finally had a chance to get our newest grand baby on the boat. Brooklyn  had never seen it before , but didn’t waste any time checking it out and trying to take it over. We also took her out for a ride on the dingy. She liked the little boat too.

We did an extended stay in Baltimore to attend the wedding of my God-Daughter. The wedding was a beautiful and wondrous affair. I’d like to introduce the bride and groom to all of you who were not in attendance.

6/24/15            Chesapeake City

We left Baltimore and headed to Chesapeake City on the C & D Canal. We stayed at Schaefer's Canal House.  Our friends Drew and Wayne met us there for dinner.

 There is a cute little town (the other part of Chesapeake City) with B & B’s and quaint restaurants and shops and a maritime museum just across the canal.
