5/2/15 to 5/8/15               Solomon’s Island, Annapolis and Rock Hall

On 5/2/15, we pulled into Zahniser’s Yachting Center on Solomon’s Island, Md. We had wonderful weather so we were able to ride all over the place. The main street through Solomon’s has many, many restaurants. And a few shops, but Food seems to be the main attraction.

There is an extensive River Walk, with a Pavilion and a large pier which contains a restaurant. This is a really great place to spend an afternoon and evening.

 

We rode beyond the normal tourist area and found a really neat little place called ‘Tiki Everything’. Unfortunately it was Sunday morning and everything was closed There was a large Tiki Bar at the front right on the road across from the waterfront. And it had little shops and a motel and everything was so colorful. (see below – from the back end).  We never made it back to check out the bar.

5/4/15

Our trip up from Solomon’s to Annapolis took us past the Calvert cliffs area, and provided some interesting pictures.

Cove Point Light House on the shores of Calvert Cliffs is below..

5/4/15 to 5/6/15 – Annapolis Md.

Entering the Annapolis Harbor, the United States Naval Academy is a truly magnificent site. The picture below does not do it justice. Click to enlarge

 

We stayed right on the bulkhead of the City Docks. See pictures below taken right from the boat. This is another wonderful place to spend time. There are all kinds of shops and restaurants around the harbor.

Our stop here was for business too. We finally bought a dingy. Now we can go on the hook (anchor out) and still be able to get into the towns to get supplies and check things out. I’ve never handled a little boat like this with an outboard motor, so I took it out around the harbor some and didn’t hit anything until I brought it back into the swim platform on the boat. But that doesn’t count because that’s how it’s done.

5/7/15 to 5/8/15

We next spent two days in Rock Hall Md. This was back on the Easter Shore of the bay. We went there  so that I could get a fried hard crab. Little did I know that they no longer make them.  It seems they aren’t healthy but that’s what I loved about them. How else can you fill up on just one crab!

We rode around and did some shopping. The riding is making a big difference in my upper legs. I just wish it didn’t hurt so much. Ken always wants to go further or longer, but it’s a lot easier with an electric bike.

Below are some shots of Downtown Rock Hall which is quit cute. They seem to be mixing the old with some new and doing a good job.

 

 

We also found a new restaurant.  The Harbor Shack is really neat. It has an outside deck area with a fire pit and cushy little group settings. It is more of a neighborhood hangout.  And the food was good too.

 

We also enjoyed some beautiful sunsets there. Below is one sample.

 

5/9/15 We headed into the Baltimore Harbor area amid clouds and fog (see picture below).

 

We will be staying at the Anchorage Marina on Boston Street (Canton area) until sometime in late June. If you’d like to come visit or get together, just give us a call. We’d love hearing from and seeing our friends and family.
